Dear Readers,
This Guide was
produced to coincide with the opening of the 'new' Bibbulmun
Track on September 13th 1998. The Track stretches almost
1000kms from Kalamunda (Perth hills) to Albany on the south
coast and is Western Australia's longest walk trail and one
of the greatest in the world.
Along the route
there are 48 bushwalker campsites in delightful locations
never more than a day's walk apart. However if you prefer
the thought of a warm bed at the end of a day's walk, this
book will provide you with some excellent alternatives to
camping out on the Track.
For those who dream
of bush walking on the Bibbbulmun but need help to get started
or don't want to carry a full backpack, there are guided tour
operators and transport agents listed too.
I would like to
thank Trailswest and the Lotteries Commission for their help
in funding this guide, 'Friends' volunteer Donna Livingstone
whose cheerful and tireless collation of material has made
this guide possible, and 'Friends' volunteer Claire Parker
for her valuable help in the final compilation.
We hope that this
guide will inspire you to discover the joys of walking the
Bibbulmun Track, regardless of age, experience and need for
creature comforts!
